RPG Game Art Services

The breathtaking story and addictive gameplay are significant parts of 2D and 3D RPG games.

But none of them would be so coherent without the main part: stunning game design.
All locations, monsters, items, and characters should be beautifully designed to catch the player’s attention and boost their desire to play more and more.

This leads us to a significant conclusion: even if the RPG game has an outstanding idea and concepts, without creating astonishing animations and illustrations, such a game never will be successful. So, if you want a popular game, just create a memorable game design.

When gamers plan to play a 3D RPG game, they expect to have a combination of pleasant visual graphics, a special atmosphere, and addictive gameplay. To reach that is possible only due to core game art elements.

Game characters: While working on a new project, game designers should first work with player characters. Their appearance should be well-developed, and all details in the designs should be carefully thought out.

Developers should remember about NPCs game art too. Whether they are fantastical creatures and heroes in fantasy RPGs, dark and eerie characters in horror games, or futuristic cybernetic individuals in cyberpunk RPGs, all of them are important parts of the game in general. The same goes for creatures and monsters. They also should have iconic designs to enhance the player’s gaming experience.

Creating environments and world-building: It doesn’t matter, if the game progresses in fantasy forests, medieval towns, or modern sci-fi interiors, game designers should bring to life realistic settings to deepen the audience into the plot and story. Whether it’s a flat desert in an offroad RPG or a chill village in a farm RPG game, paying attention to the small details when building these worlds is incredibly important.

Equipment and items: In RPGs, weapon types often involve a wide variety of guns, armor, and magical items. The game art should showcase these common items, making them visually distinctive and exciting for players to collect and use.

RPG UI and icons: 2D and 3D RPGs have complex user interfaces (UI) with menus, character stats, and icons representing various in-game elements.

So many things to do, right? That’s why the services of game art outsourcing companies are so popular nowadays.

Coreborn

We’re proud to know that our designers were working on art for Coreborn, the breathtaking 3D RPG game.

The project was very challenging but interesting.
Our responsibility was to create 3D expressive detailed characters with animated elements of the environment. While working on the character, we created a customizable one with 2 genders, 7 hairstyles, 6 face types, 4 costumes, and 5 types of weapons.

Animations were also a part of our task. As a result, our designers created unique fighting animations of the player character and his enemies.

As you already understand, game art outsourcing is a magic wand for RPG game developers. For them, our team is like professional wizards in the gaming world.

We know all the subtleties of creating 2D and 3D art, assets, and characters, and have already made some RPG projects as successful as possible.

Designing a HUD That Works for Your RPG

Creating an engaging gaming experience in RPG games is impossible without designing a heads-up display (HUD). There are some significant rules our team always sticks to.

  1. We display only essential information on the RPG HUD such as health and mana bars, minimap, and quest objectives.

  2. According to a subgenre of your RPG game, our team designs a special intuitive interface for managing items, equipment, character stats, etc.

  3. We always make sure that the design of the HUD and RPG icons match the overall aesthetic of the game.

Game Art for Isometric RPGs

Our team isn’t scared of challenges, so creating game art for isometric RPGs is an exciting journey for us.
We know how to make 2.5D environments, characters, and objects.

While working on game art, our designers always maintain a consistent isometric perspective to ensure that all elements look harmonious within the game world.
Diversity and realism is our main responsibility: the world should include a variety of terrain types and objects (grass, dirt, stone, etc.), and design characters should be created with multiple directional sprites to ensure smooth animation.

Frequently Asked Question

A game is considered an RPG when it allows players to create and develop a character, make choices that impact the story, and feature character progression. We can’t imagine an RPG without engaging quests, character customization, and complex narratives.

According to our team’s experience, there are 5 steps to make RPG sprites.

  1. Define the character’s appearance, including details like gender, age, clothing, and accessories.

  2. Create a clean outline of the character’s shape using a black or dark outline color, and then fill in the character with appropriate colors, shading, and highlights.

  3. Resize the sprite to fit the desired in-game dimensions. Typical RPG sprites are often small, pixelated images.

  4. Don’t forget to test: import the sprite into the game engine to see how it looks in the game environment.

  5. Save the sprite as a transparent PNG or another suitable format for use in the game.

The perfect examples are The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 4, Dark Souls Series, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Mass Effect Series.

Creating a role-playing game is a complex and multi-step process so start with conceptualization and planning.

After you develop an idea, find game outsourcing companies and share your concepts with them. It will make the whole game development process much easier.

Firstly, develop the world’s backstory and history. Consider its creation myth, major historical events, and the rise and fall of civilizations.

Secondly, design the physical geography of the world, including continents, regions, mountain ranges, oceans, and landmarks.

Thirdly, invent different races, species, or factions that inhabit the world.

Last but not least, add as many details as possible. Including magic, creating bestiary and creatures, developing political systems, etc. Just give freedom to your creativity.

Begin by conceptualizing the layout and purpose of your RPG map. Determine whether it’s a town, dungeon, or world map. Then populate the map with essential details like buildings, roads, terrain features, and environmental elements.

Don’t forget to include significant landmarks, quest objectives, and interactive elements relevant to your RPG setting. It’s significant to pay attention to aesthetics, ensuring the map’s appearance matches the game’s visual style.

Our team is ready to provide a simplified guide for you:

  1. Establish the setting and protagonist.

Describe the world, its unique features, and the era in which the game takes place.

  1. Create a hook and interactive element.

Develop an initial conflict to draw players in. This could be a mystery, a problem to solve, or a significant event that requires the player’s attention.

  1. End with a cliffhanger.

Conclude the intro with a significant event that leaves players excited and curious about what comes next.

The main advice from our team: begin with learning Unreal Engine. Before starting to craft RPGs using UE4, explore official documentation, tutorials, and online resources.
Make sure you understand the engine’s interface, tools, and blueprint visual scripting.
